Confession: up until like, last week or so, I had never tried or bought a MAC product. I thought it was over-hyped and overpriced, and to be completely honest, the sales women inside always intimidated me. But, walking past the MAC store in my local mall the other day, I happened to see a wall of mini products and, driven by some unknown force*, entered the shop to find out more.
(*Now, if you’ve read any other review of mine, you’ll know that I LOVE travel/trial size products. Maybe it’s slight commitment phobia, but I enjoy being able to try something without the pressure of committing to a full size item. Plus they’re great for keeping in your handbag. The checkout aisle in Sephora? Heaven.)
I tried to limit myself (although the sales assistant took the time to really go through all the products to find what would be best for me) and ended up settling on the mini lipstick in the cult favourite shade, Ruby Woo (R130), and the mini Prep+Prime Fix+ (R180).
I had been looking for a setting spray for a while, so jumped at the chance to try the “mini lightweight water mist that refreshes skin and finishes makeup”. I tried it a few times now and I love how refreshing it is, and how it locks in my make-up. This is the first spray I’ve tried, but I definitely see the appeal. The lipstick; well I can see why it has the reputation is has. The red is absolutely gorgeous, and looks incredible on me, and I fell in love the first time I wore it. So far, I can’t complain.
So, bottom line: the MAC minis are perfect entry to MAC products, and I’ll definitely be back to get the full size versions!
