The Easiest Way to Get Your Life in Order

Self-care is obviously more than one quick step, and it’s important to take the time out to ensure you’re mentally and physically in good shape, but this is certainly one of the easier, and most instantly gratifying way to obtain a slight illusion of control of your life. Sometimes you just need to slap on a face mask and call it a day, so here are some of my all time favourite masks.

THE CULT FAVOURITE

GLAMGLOW
SUPERMUD CLEARING TREATMENT

There was a time on Instagram where you couldn’t turn your head without seeing some influencer touting this brand. And because of that I was hesitant to try it, as I thought it would be overrated. But here I am, about to sing its praises.

With a blend of six acids, activated-x charcoal, and K-17 clay, the supermud clearing treatment mask is designed to fight problem skin and skin imperfections. As it dries, the mask turns a green/grey colour and that’s when you can watch it can actively working – the products tingles on application, and turns black in the areas it’s absorbing excess oiliness and dirt (my nose, my greatest problem area, was almost black as it cleared out blackheads). You can also use it as a spot treatment.

It is fairly pricey, but after one use I suddenly understood the hype. If you need a powerful mask, with guaranteed results, this is for you.

THE MORNING GLOW

FRANK BODY GLOW MASK

Frank Body is an Aussie favourite – their coffee scrubs are legendary, and this mask is everything.

Made with goji berry extract, shea and cocoa butter, and arabica coffee seed, cranberry, and raspberry oil, the mask hydrates and plumps skin in just five minutes.

It’s quick enough to add as the perfect hydration booster to your morning routine, two to three times a week, to add some brightness to your skin and day. I love it.

THE CHEAPER THAN BOTOX

ENVIRON FOCUS CARE YOUTH+ REVIVAL MASQUE

I’m still obsessed with this masque from Environ – I previously reviewed it as part of their new range here.

Once you’ve worked your way up to it, you can use it every evening as part of your skincare routine, and every time your skin feels instantly visibly tighter, softer and smoother, and even better the next day. Definitely a new staple in the beauty cupboard.

THE O.G.

SHEET MASK

Everyone loves a good sheet mask. It’s easy to slap on at the end of the day while you watch the latest episode of whatever we’re binging on Netflix.

A sheet mask is a packaged piece of face-shaped fabric that sits in a concentrated version of one or more active ingredients until you’re ready to use it, which means that it’s not as good as the others, but great for hydration. Walk into Clicks and see what they have, or when you’re ready to step it up a notch, I highly recommend getting some Korean beauty masks.

THE FUN TO WATCH REMOVE

PILATEN BLACKHEAD REMOVER

Another Instagram trend – the pull-off charcoal mask. Everyone has seen the videos of people ripping off a layer of their face, and now you get to see mine.

Basically, if you need a mask and a wax at the same time, look no further (for real it will rip out all the tiny face hairs you didn’t know you had).

That being said, remember to steam open your pores beforehand and the mask will pull out blackheads along with everything else, leaving your skin softer and smoother.

THE AWARD WINNER

ORIGINS CLEAR IMPROVEMENT

With activated charcoal to unclog pores, and white china clay to remove toxins, it’s easy to see why this combination has made this mask an award-winner. Plus, you also only need to put on a light layer, which means this product does last quite long.

Some people have also compared it to the GLAMGLOW Supermud, but while it is cheaper than the GG (slightly), you don’t get the satisfying instant results that GG brings, seeing the mask suck up impurities. That being said, other than that, this is an incredible mask in and of itself. Don’t forget to open your pores with a hot towel beforehand, and your skin will feel tighter, look brighter and amazing.
