Review: Dove Nutritive Solutions Intensive Repair Shampoo & Conditioner

I needed to touch up my roots, and get a trim (because growing out a pixie cut means you enter mullet territory very quickly if left unchecked) so headed off to a new hairdresser last month, to make the most of their winter special.

I should’ve stayed at home.

The cut was amazing, seeing as I just needed the back cleaned up. But the colour… wow. I hated it. All I had asked was to tone down the blonde so that it was more of a darker, dirty blonde and the results were more of a mousy brown. I immediately expressed my displeasure, and was told that it was just the toner, that I should wash it a few times and come back if I still wasn’t happy.

Luckily, I suppose, I had just received the Dove Nutritive Solutions Intensive Repair Shampoo & Conditioner to test out and review, and what better time to start?

The range is formulated with Nutri-Keratin Repair Actives, helps your hair to recover from damage by repairing the signs of surface damage, making your hair look and feel smoother and making it stronger against breakage ,and also penetrating the strands to provide hair nourishment deep inside. Which is great for someone like myself, that changes their hair a lot, and puts the strands through the most.

After the first wash my hair felt softer and smoother. Heck, I was so impressed I even used it to wash my wig (the results of which you can see above). After using it continuously for 2 weeks, my hair felt healthier and not dry at all, perfect for winter and especially useful for someone like myself – when growing hair out you need it to be as healthy as possible if you want it to grow fast! You can get the range at either Clicks or Dischem for about R45.95 for each 200ml bottle.

Now? My hair is a lot better, but the trust between myself and that hairdresser is gone forever. If you know of any good colourists, as I’m always on the lookout, let me know in the comments, or follow me on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to connect!
